There were a few bits of Blue Jays new today:
- Maicer Izturis is having shoulder surgery and is done for the season and for the rest of his contract with the Jays. We got 118 games out of that 3 year contract.
- Gibby says that Devon Travis likely to return sometime "next week" and we'll be back to the 7-man bullpen. As always, I'll believe that when I see it. Gibby says Goins will get work at 2B, SS, 3B and the outfield when Travis comes back. Please not the outfield.
- And Gibby tells us that Scott Copeland gets Sunday's start. Aaron Sanchez is 'feeling better' but hasn't thrown yet.
- Jonathan Papalbon picked up his first save for the Blue Jays this after, closing out a win over the Orioles for us.....as a member of the Phillies.
- We have a battle of the 40 year olds tonight. Well Colon is listed at 42 (he might be older). The last time two 40+ pitchers faced each other was in August 2008, Jamie Moyer (45) vs. Greg Maddux 42. Moyer won, they each went 7 innings.
