We got an excellent start from Marco Estrada, especially when you consider that he took a hard hit ground ball off the shin in the first inning I figured he would have to come out of the game. I thought that, just after he was having troubles finishing pitches and he was limping in later innings. But he made it through 6.2 innings, allowing 9 hits, 1 walk, but only 2 runs. He battled.

Aaron Loup took over for Estrada with 2 out and 1 on, in the 7th, and got out of things, after a Josh Donaldson error (apparently the official score changed the ruling to a hit, but it really was an error). Josh tried to bare hand an soft bouncer on the infield. He had time to use his glove.

Ryan Tepera gave up a solo homer in the 8th.

On offense, well we really didn't battle. We had 6 hits and 3 walks, but only 2 extra base hit, Devon Travis' double in the 7th and a Jose Bautista double in the 8th. Travis made it to 3rd on a throwing error but we couldn't score him. We left 7 on base, hit into 1 double play and Jose Reyes was thrown out at second trying to stretch a single into a double.

We had a chance in the 8th, Bautista had a 1-out doubled, but Edwin Encarnacion hit one off the end of his bat, flying out to left and Justin Smoak ground out to first.

We really needed to score off Danny Duffy, but he pitched 6 scoreless and we didn't do much against Herrera, Davis and Holland.

The two best moments of the game came from Travis. He had the double and he made a great jumping catch.

Jays of the Day: By the numbers, no one gets a JoD. Bautista comes closest at .074.  I'm going to give one to Estrada, I thought he did a very good job.

Suckage: Kevin Pillar (-.121, 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts) and Jose Reyes (-.118, 1 for 4, but he was thrown out trying to stretch his single into a double).

The only thing we won tonight was a challenge. Jarrod Dyson tried for a bunt single, with 2 out in the 6th. Estrada made a nice pick up but had a hard time making the throw to first. It was called safe on the field, but replays showed he was just barely out.

We do this all over again tomorrow. It is a 2:00 Eastern start. Let's score some tomorrow.
