Well this is a kind of interesting move,, Felix Doubront gets DFAed to make room for Troy Tulowitzki.
Felix had 5 appearances for the Blue Jays. 4 starts after a relief appearance. He wasn't awful, but them he wasn't good either. In 22.2 innings, he had a 4.76 ERA, with 32 hits, 1 home run, 5 walks and 13 strikeouts. His FIP was good at 3.29, he didn't walk many and didn't give up home runs, but then he also gave up a lot of hard hit balls. I'm not sure that his FIP really gives a true view of how he pitched, but then it's only 22 innings.
I wonder what would have happened if that crappy call didn't go against him. I wonder if the call caused him to lose concentration or if he would have been out of the game that inning anyway. If he had thrown 5 scoreless innings, would have have still been DFAed?
It opens the question of who will fill his slot the next time through the rotation. I'm hoping Alex makes a move. If he doesn't, maybe Phillippe Aumont will get the next shot. He did look very good at the Pan-Am games, but....Alex, hurry up and get a pitcher.
Other than that....Tulowitzki had press conference today, there wasn't much of interest said. He was asked if he would be willing to bat leadoff and he gave the 'whatever they tell me to I'll do'. Asked about replacing a player that was popular with his teammates, he said that all he can do is be himself and that his teammates will learn to like him. Normal stuff, but he was very likable.
