Well, we get to see which of the bandwagon fan are here to stay and which aren't.
That wasn't a lot of fun to watch.
The Jays just couldn't hit Masahiro Tanaka. He pitched a complete game, allowing just 5 hits and 3 walks, with 8 strikeouts. He was very good, helped out some by a slightly large strike zone.
Edwin Encarnacion had 2 hits. We got 1 hit each from Jose Bautista, Chris Colabello and Ben Revere. Really everyone had a tough day, other than Edwin.
We had a chance in the 5th inning. Ryan Goins walked, Revere singled and Troy Tulowitzki walk to load the bases with no outs. But we just scored 1 run. Josh Donaldson just missed, getting just under a pitch for a sac fly. Jose Bautista struck out and Edwin Encarnacion popped out to second. That was our 1 good chance all game.
Marco Estrada pitched a good game. 6 innings, just 3 hits, 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Unfortunately, 2 of the hits were solo homers. Carlos Beltran and Mark Teixeira took him deep. 2 runs in 6 innings really ought to win with this team.
The bullpen gave up a couple more runs. Mark Lowe pitched a good inning, allowing just a hit. But LaTroy Hawkins gave up a run off 3 hits in the 8th. And Aaron Loup gave up a run off 2 hits in the 9th.
It just was one of those games. The bad part was that it came after yesterday's loss.
No Jays of the Day. Top mark goes to Lowe at .055 WPA. Estrada deserves an honorable mention for pitching a good game.
Suckage: Navarro (-.119, 0 for 4 with 1 strikeout), Pillar (-.114 for an 0 for 4, he did make decent contact a couple of times), Bautista (-.100, 1 for 4, 1 strikeout) and Colabello (-.098, 1 for 3, 2 strikeouts).
Let's get them tomorrow.
We had 1343 comments in a losing cause. Pikachu led the way again. Good job.
