I was thinking of just making the recap FIRE JIM WOLF in really big letters.
We have seen some awful umpiring this past couple of weeks. Today's game was the worst.
In the first inning Josh Donaldson get hit. Likely no intent, just wanted to push him back, but I hate up and in. Umpire Jim Wolf decides it is worth warning both teams. Silly move, but he did it.
Josh's next time up, another pitch up near his head. Has to be an ejection, but it isn't.
Later in the game, in the 7th, Troy Tulowitzki takes one on the forearm, no ejection.
Josh, up next gets another pitch near his head and still no ejection. By now it is impossible to believe. Josh was as mad as you'll see any player get. We were lucky that Jose Bautista got there quick and got between Jose and Wolf and then Gibby came out and, as he had to, got himself ejected.
Then, of course, Aaron Sanchez is in in the 8th. One of his pitches gets Alcies Escobar on the leg and Sanchez gets ejected. Which, in turn, cleared the benches. Totally stupid. Terrible umpiring. You don't throw at Escobar to make up for the other team throwing at Josh Donaldson.
Totally a case of an umpire that lost control of the game. There is no excuse for his game.

R.A. Dickey was so good today. Pitching on short rest, goes 7 innings, allowed just 2 singles and 2 walks, while getting 6 strikeouts. He came out at 101 pitches, but really you could have left him in, he looked so good.
We did :
- Chris Colabello had a 2 run homer in the 4th
- Jose Bautista had a ground rule double, scoring 1, after calming Josh in the 7th.
- In the 8th, Justin Smoak and Russell Martin walked. Kevin Pillar popped out, shallow and foul, along the first base line, Smoak did a great job tagging up. Smoak scored on Ben Revere's sac fly. Martin Scored on a single from Tulowitzki.
In all, we had 7 hits, 6 walks and, of course, 2 hit batters.
Roberto Osuna did a good job, getting the save, even though he gave up a home to Ben Zobrist, after Sanchez was ejected. That he could keep calm and keep his head on the game after all that happened. He really impressed me. Great 4 out save.
Jays of the Day: Dickey (.408 WPA, great game), Colabello (.140). I'll give honorary mention to Bautista for keeping Josh in the game. Josh for not killing anyone. And Osuna for keeping his head when all others were losing theirs.
Suckage: Just Wolf. The way he worked that game you knew there was going to be a bench clearing moment. Umpires are supposed to keep the calm, not make things worse Kevin Pillar came close with a -.093, on an 0 for 4, with 3 popups.
I'm pretty sure Gibby was on the field, during the bench clearing, which since he had been ejected before that, likely will mean a suspension.
I'm pretty sure I'll want to write more about this, but let's post. Wolf....you really are going to have to explain your performance today.
That game was exhausting, emotional and a great win for the Jays.
An amazing 1743 comments in our thread. And I have to say how much I appreciate you guys. That thread could have become a mess, every easy, but you guys kept your heads. Very little swearing and no stupidity. I really appreciate that. Remind me that I owe you guys a beer next time I see you. You were very classy. I thank you.
