The Blue Jays have traded Randy Wolf to the Tigers for cash.
As you know, Daniel Norris picked up an oblique injury last night so the Tigers are looking for someone to fill his place in the rotation.
Norris Wolf had been talking to the Jays about getting his release, to look for a team that might give him a shot in the majors. The Jays had been thinking about calling him up for September and weren't interested in giving him up to play in the minors for another team. But, with the Tigers offering an major league job, it wouldn't be very nice to stand in his way.
Wolf had a 9-2 record and a 2.58 ERA in 23 starts for the Bisons. In 139.2 innings he allowed 139 hits, 4 home runs, 40 walks and 106 strikeouts.
Wolf really deserves this chance. Hope he does well, except, of course, if he faces the Jays next week.
Update: Randy is to start Saturday for the Tigers.
