A's claim Danny Valencia, Jays claim Ben Rowen from Cubs

The A's have claimed Danny Valencia off waivers from the Blue Jays. No surprise there. Still not happy that the Jays let Danny go. I'd much rather they had gone to a 7-man pen.

The Jays have claimed right-handed pitcher Ben Rowen from the Cubs. Ben was a 22nd round pick by the Rangers in 2010.. He pitched in 4 games with the Rangers in 2014, 8.2 innings, 10 hits, 4 earned, 4 walks (3 IBB) and 7 strikeouts.

In the minors, this year, splitting time between Double and Triple A he has a 1.93 ERA in 46.2 innings. He's allowed 38 hits, 7 walks and 31 strikeouts. He's just depth for Buffalo.

He's a submarine style pitcher, with a low-80s fastball, ground ball pitcher. I don't see him as someone that we should be calling up at any time.

Welcome Ben. Sorry to see you go Danny, I hope things go great for you.

Update- Ezequiel Carrera will remain in the organization after clearing waivers
