Blue Jays get Cliff Pennington from the Diamondbacks for Dawel Lugo

It isn't official yet but this looks like it is going to happen:

Pennington isn't hitting much, just .237/.314/.281 with 3 steal, no caught stealing, 16 walks and 29 strikeouts. He can play all the infield spots (though you wouldn't put him at first) and has played the outfield on occasion.

He's good defensively at second, short and third, so an up grade from Munenori Kawasaki (though Munenori is a fun guy to have around. He can pinch run, is a switch hitter and would be useful to give Tulo a day off or Goins for a few innings.

Not a big deal but makes the team a little bit better, improves our bench. Now if we could bring up Dalton Pompey to give us a real 5th outfielder I'd be pretty happy (not that I'm not happy at the moment).

Update: Shi Davidi tells us that the Diamondbacks are sending cash over and a 'farm hand is going to Phoenix.

Update: Apparenlty Dawel Lugo is going to Arizona, money and Pennington coming back. Dawel is a SS, doesn't walk much, kind of borderline prospect.
