Only 2 new members of the Baseball Hall of Fame: Ken Griffey sets a new record for percentage of the vote. Only 3 writers left him off their ballots. Piazza has a healthy number too, he didn't squeak in.
The chart cut off Mike Hampton, Mike Lowell and Randy Winn had a vote each as well.
I was hoping Raines would make it. He and Bagwell are close enough that I'm hopeful for next year. I figured that Bonds and Clemens would get to 50% of the vote, they fell short of that. But they do make a much better jump than Mark McGwire, who went from 10% to 12.3. It seems like the voters agree that he wouldn't have had the numbers without the drugs.
Larry Walker didn't move much either. He was at 11.8% last year, 15.5% this year. It isn't going to happen for him.
Trevor Hoffman gets 2/3's of the vote. It will be interesting to see if he goes up from that next year, or if that's his high mark.
I was also hoping that Jim Edmonds would get 5% of the vote, he's too good to be a one and done, but he is.
