GameThread Game #162: Jays @ Red Sox

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

The last game of the season. It's been a wild ride.

A win means we host the Wild Card game.

A loss and....well any of a number of things could happen. Just win. Or:

  • If the Oriole and Tigers lose as well...Jays host the wild card.
  • If the Orioles win and the Tigers lose, we play the O's in Baltimore.
  • If the Orioles lose and the Tigers win, the Tigers play again Monday. If they win that all three are tied and we have a rather complicated little playoff tree. Jays would play one in Toronto, win that, all is good, lose that and they play on the road in a game they would need to win.

So lots of scoreboard watching today, and since all the games start at the same time, the GameThread should be an interesting place.

I'm surprised the Red Sox are using their regulars today....if someone gets hurt, you would have to fire Farrell. I would imagine Price won't be pitching deep into the game.

I'd love to watch a game that isn't in played in the pouring rain, if at all possible.
