So after days of complaining about the lack of rumors coming from the Jays, suddenly we get a bunch of them.
Jon Heyman tells us the Jays have a ‘strong interest’ in Dexter Fowler.
We’d be buying high on Fowler, since he’s coming off a very good season, but he’d give us a good leadoff hitter and he’s a switch-hitter. He’s been slightly better vs. LHP over his career. Last year he hit .270/.392/.435 vs. RHP, .293/.396/.480 vs. LHP.
He’s someone I’d love to have on the Jays. Devon Travis could hit in a spot that’s better for his talents, and we’d have someone that could get on base for Donaldson and company.
Fowler would have to be willing to move to a corner outfield spot, but I’m sure they could talk him into that. He’d be a big improvement defensively over Bautista or Saunders.
MLB Trade Rumors guessed that Fowler would get a 4-year, $64 million contract. I could live with that.
