Toronto Blue Jays @ Tampa Bay Rays, Opening Day Lineups

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports
Happy Opening Day!

The Blue Jays start the season today in St.Petersburg, Florida to take on Chris Archer and the division rival Tampa Bay Rays. Marcus Stroman takes the mound for Toronto in game one of the four game series. Historically, the Blue Jays have greatly struggled at Tropicana Field, but a win today would give Toronto a head start over each team in the American League East.

Today's Lineups:
TORONTO BLUE JAYS TAMPA BAY RAYS
Kevin Pillar - CF Logan Forsythe - 2B
Josh Donaldson- 3B Logan Morrison - 1B
Jose Bautista - RF Evan Longoria - 3B
Edwin Encarnacion - DH Corey Dickerson - DH
Troy Tulowitzki - SS Desmond Jennings - LF
Chris Colabello - 1B Brad Miller - SS
Michael Saunders - LF Steven Souza - RF
Russell Martin - C Kevin Kiermaier - CF
Ryan Goins - 2B Hank Conger - C
Marcus Stroman - RHP Chris Archer- RHP

After missing the series in Montreal, Edwin Encarnacion is back in the lineup and ready for opening day. Chris Colabello gets the start over Justin Smoak at first base, as Chris Archer was slightly better against left-handed hitters last season. Smoak, Darwin Barney, Ezequiel Carrera, and Josh Thole will be available off of the bench.

Interestingly enough, the game will be nationally televised throughout the United States on ESPN 2. For a fun game, you can compare this lineup with the Blue Jays opening day lineups in previous seasons. Let's hope for an opening day win and a terrific 2016 season.
