Game two of the regular season will see Blue Jays knuckleballer R.A. Dickey start against Rays southpaw Drew Smyly down at Tropicana Field at 7:10 pm Eastern. Toronto will be looking forward to keeping their perfect record as well as their lead in the American League for runs scored.
John Gibbons will send the Blue Jays' regular lineup against Smyly, with Josh Thole behind the plate instead of Russell Martin. Like Gibbons, Rays manager Kevin Cash will be sending out the same lineup as yesterday save for a switch at catcher, replacing Hank Conger with the alliterative catcher Curt Casali.
Smyly, 26, missed most of last season with a partially torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, throwing just over 66 innings in 12 starts. He also made his 2015 season debut against the Blue Jays down at Tropicana FIeld against Dickey, giving up two runs on four hits (including a Devon Travis solo shot) and striking out five over 4.2 innings on April 24 in an eventual 12-3 Rays victory.
Let's hope that the knuckleball is angry tonight and that we'll see a more favourable result from this Smyly-Dickey rematch.
