Jays claim Jimmy Paredes off waivers

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Blue Jays managed to make news without anyone being been punished, having claimed Jimmy Paredes off waivers from the Orioles.

Jimmy has played parts of 5 seasons in the majors, playing pretty much all positions, other than catcher. He started his career with the Astros, moved on to the Royals, then the Orioles and now our Jays.

He has a .257/.293/.369 with 15 home runs, 19 steals, 42 walks and 239 strikeouts in 249 games. Last year he hit .275/.310/..416 in 104 games.

I'd imagine that, unless they want to try to sneak Paredes through waivers, they will be sending Andy Burns back to Buffalo to make room on the roster for Paredes.
