Blue Jays call up Pat Venditte, send out Matt Dominguez

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Had to figure there would be a roster move after last night's mess, and there is: Pat Venditte comes up from Buffalo. Matt Dominguez gets put on optional waivers. We've been through this optional waivers thing often enough, the league has a gentleman's agreement not to take other team's players off optional waivers.

Matt Dominguez started one game and got an at bat in last night's game, in this short stay with the Jays. 4 at bats, no hits or walks or strikeouts. I'm sure we'll see him again.

Venditte it up for the third time this season. He's pitched in 7 games with the Jays, for a total of 6.2 innings. He's allowed 9 hits, 6 runs, 3 earned, 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. I would have preferred them to try someone else, but it isn't my choice. The throwing with either arm thing is cool and all, but he hasn't been getting the outs.
