Apparently there's actually a baseball game tonight! It's nice that it's in Houston and the Central Time Zone, giving us some time to digest the trade deadline moves. Here is a summary of the Jays' moves today:
- Jesse Chavez, the other pitcher in Sunday's 12th inning, was traded along with cash considerations to the Dodgers for Mike Bolsinger
- Drew Hutchison was traded to the Pirates for Nelson Liriano plus prospects Reese McGuire and Harold Ramirez
- Scott Feldman crossed from the home to the visitor clubhouse, having been traded from the Astros to the Jays for prospect Guadalupe Chavez
- Ezequiel Carrera was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an left Achilles strain and Bo Schultz was recalled
- Franklin Morales was designated for assignment and Ryan Goins was recalled
- Ben Rowen was designated for assignment
In general, the Jays did a great job of improving the team without destroying what's left of their prospect list.
Some other news: Josh Donaldson was scratched from tonight's game last-minute, with apparent hamstring troubles. Troy Tulowitzki is still out of the lineup, but everyone seems to be hopeful that he won't be out for long. He took fielding practice today. Also, Aaron Sanchez is headed to the bullpen, will be making just one or two more starts.
GO JAYS GO!
