Blue Jays trade for Dioner Navarro

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

This news came out of no where. I had to check 3 times to make sure the email wasn't from a few years ago.

The Blue Jays traded for Dioner Navarro. They sent left-handed minor league pitcher Colton Turner to the White Sox.

Dioner is having a lousy season, hitting just .210/.267/.339 in 85 games, 83 of them at catcher. He has 6 home runs, 20 walks and 63 strikeouts. As you know, he was a Jay the past two seasons, hitting .267/.315/.390 in 193 games, with 17 home runs.

Turner has split this year between Lansing (0.00 ERA in 12 innings, 8 hits, 3 walks and 13 strikeouts), Dunedin (0.57 ERA, in 31.2 innings, 19 hits, 9 walks and 47 strikeouts) and New Hampshire (5.23 ERA in 10.1 innings, 12 hits, 8 walks and 10 strikeouts).

Turner is 25, not a big prospect, but maybe could become a LOOGY type.

Welcome back Dioner.
