Marcus Stroman wins Gold Glove

Lost in our sadness over the death of Roy Halladay, there was some good news last night.

Marcus Stroman won the Gold Glove. I wanted to type won his first Gold Glove, but I don’t understand the voting on that stuff, so I don’t want to guess that it will happen again.

Getting to watch him, he is a very good fielder. I’ve seen him take ground balls at shortstop during fielding practice (but then, it’s a long season, just about every player has some fun fielding at different spots, during practice at some point of the season). Marcus seems to take pride in his fielding.

Marcus becomes the second Jays pitcher to win a Gold Glove, R.A. Dickey won back in 2013.

Congratulations Marcus.

Kevin Pillar lost out to Byron Buxton in the center field voting. I thought Pillar deserved the award in the past, but the voters disagreed. This year I didn’t think he was the top fielder in center, so I thought he might win.
