Prompt: one rule I would change in MLB

I would reduce the number of batters in the lineup from nine to 6 or 7. They would still consist of players on the field. This would allow better hitters to have more at-bats per game increasing offense over all while allowing more room for glove-first players to maximize their value. Additionally, pinch hitters could come from the field rather than the bench if desired and removing a batter from the lineup would not require pulling him out of the field. I would retain the rules that a batter cannot move around in the batting order and once he is removed from the lineup he cannot reenter it. Teams would probably respond by carrying fewer bench players and more pitchers. That would lengthen games and could be resolved by decreasing the roster size if desired but that is an additional rule change and thus exceeds the consideration of the prompt.
