Melvin Upton hit his first homer of the season and Mike Ohlman had his second of the spring.

Pitchers:

  • Joe Biagini: Gave up 2 hits (singles) in his 2 innings of work, with a walk and he had 2 strikeouts. A nice job against a Red Sox lineup that had most of their regulars.
  • Casey Lawrence: Had a tough inning. It started with an Upton error. He followed that with a walk and then 2 hard hit fly outs. Another walk loaded the bases. That was followed by a 2-run single, before another hard hit fly out. The runs weren’t officially earned but he did earn them. He was behind on almost every batter. Note, the GameDay boxscore is messed up for him.
  • Mike Bolsinger: Gave up a 1-out single and double, and a sac fly, in his first inning. His second inning was a nice quick 3 up 3 down, with a strikeout.
  • Matt Dermody: Had a quick inning, with 2 strikeouts.
  • Jeff Beliveau: Another quick inning with 2 strikeouts. Both him and Dermody making a case for the second lefty job.
  • Danny Barnes: Had a tough inning, 2 singles, followed by a 2-run double.

Batters:

  • Kevin Pillar: 0 for 1 with 2 walks and a steal. He has us asking ‘at what point do you believe he has changed as a hitter?’ He has 5 walks, so far, this spring, in just 29 PA. He has a .517 OBP.
  • Darrell Ceciliani: 0 for 2, k. The strikeout was with the tying run on third in the 9th. He could have tied the game with any decent contact. .267 spring BA.
  • Melvin Upton: 1 for 3, home run. Crushed the homer. .143.
  • Steve Pearce: 1 for 4, k. .313.
  • Justin Smoak: 1 for 3, hard hit double, k. .154.
  • Jarrod Saltalamacchia: 0 for 2, k. .278. He also picked a runner off second.
  • Harold Ramirez: 0 for 2. .000. He played the outfield for the first time this spring.
  • Anthony Alford: 1 for 2, triple. .207.
  • Mike Ohlman: 1 for 1, home run. .400. Hit the homer leading off the 9th.
  • Darwin Barney: 1 for 2. .350.
  • Rowdy Tellez: Took a walk in his only PA.
  • Ryan Goins: 0 for 3. .148. He’s having a really tough spring with the bat.
  • Jake Elmore: 1 for 1. .308.
  • Richard Urena: 0 for 2, walk. .320. No throwing errors today.

Tomorrow is an off-day. Jays are now 5-11
