It was good to see Devon Travis playing. He hit a double, and had the first ground ball of the game hit at him. He looked to be running well. I didn’t see any troubles.
J.A. Happ had a very good start. 5.1 innings, 3 hits, 1 earned, no walks, 5 strikeouts. He gave up a home run, after a Gregorio Petit error, but that was the only problem he had all game. He looked like he is ready to start the season.
Other pitchers:
- Aaron Loup: Got the last 2 outs of the 6th inning, 1 strikeout, 1 fly out.
- Ryan Tepera: Gave up a leadoff walk, and threw a wild pitch, but stranded the runner. He had 2 strikeouts.
- Tim Mayza: Gave up a hit, but got out of the inning.
- Dominic Leone: Allowed a hit and got a strikeout. He was helped out by two very nice plays by Shane Opitz. Opitz saved the win.
Batters:
- Troy Tulowitzki: 2 for 2, double, run, RBI. Looked great batting and on defense. .320.
- Jose Bautista: 1 for 2, double, strikeout. .556.
- Josh Donaldson: 0 for 2, both ground outs. .000.
- Russell Martin: 0 for 3. I would like to see him make good contact on a pitch soon. .130.
- Steve Pearce: 0 for 2. He made a nice throw to second, starting a 3-6-3 double play. Good to see him make the throw. .276.
- Kevin Pillar: 1 for 1, walk (his 6th of the spring). .364.
- Devon Travis: 1 for 2, double and a double play. He seemed to be running well.
- Darrell Ceciliani: 0 for 2, both strikeouts. .264. That brings him to 17 strikeouts in 53 at bats, with 1 walk.
- Ezequiel Carrera: 0 for 1, walk. .286. Good to see him playing again.
- Gregorio Petit: 0 for 2 and the error. .263.
- Mike Ohlman: 0 for 2, 2 k. .263.
- Ryan Goins: 0 for 1. .182. He played some first base, and looked good there, digging out 2 or 3 short hops.
The win makes the Jays 9-14 on the spring.
