There were two games today, but I’m not recapping the game against Canada’s Junior team. The real interesting part was watching Vlad Jr. He was 0 for 4, no strikeouts, some good contact. He also made a rocket of a throw on a ground ball to third. Bo Bichette had a hard hit double. Lane Thomas had a double and a triple.
Steve Pearce played left, he didn’t get much hit to him.
I think the final score was 16-0 Jays.
The nice part was that Russell Martin was going to take the Juniors to ‘his favorite Tampa Bay restaurant’ after the
In the other game, Jays should have won, but 2 errors in the 9th and the Yankees got the walk-off win.
Pitching:
- Mat Latos started. 3 innings, 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned (there was an error called on Morales at first base, I thought it was a tough play, I wouldn’t have called it an error), 1 walk, 1 home run. He didn’t impress me. 6.75 ERA this spring.
- Ryan Tepera: 1 inning, 1 k. Nice quick inning. 2.16.
- Mike Bolsinger: 3 innings, 2 hits, 1 earned, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts. Looked pretty good. 3.09.
- Aaron Loup: 1 inning. Nice quick inning. 4.26.
- Joe Biagini pitched the 9th. He gave up a bad hop lead off single. Then a strikeout. Yet another Jake Elmore error put runners on first and second. He got a popout, then Ryan McBroom booted a grounder to first, tying the game. A single gave the Yankees the walkoff.
Bats:
- Devon Travis: 2 for 4, double, k. .550. He DHed today. Bat looks good.
- Troy Tulowitzki: 0 for 3, k. .286.
- Josh Donaldson: 0 for 3, k. .000.
- Jose Bautista: 0 for 2, walk, k. .500.
- Kendrys Morales: 1 for 3. .364. He had two errors. One was a tough play, one was a very easy play.
- Kevin Pillar: 0 for 3, k. .340.
- Salty: 1 for 2, home run, walk. .296. That was his 3rd home run of the spring. Had a couple of poor throws to second and steals.
- Darrell Ceciliani: 1 for 3, 1 k, double. .268. That’s 18 strikeouts in 56 at bats now. made a nice catch in left. Still just 1 walk.
- Ryan Goins: 1 for 3, home run. .191. His first homer of the spring.
