We’ve learned a little bit about how the Jays bullpen will look come a week from today.
Bo Schultz has an elbow problem, he is heading off to talk to a doctor, no word on what the injury is, but it doesn’t sound good. He’ll start the season on the DL.
And Mat Latos has been told he isn’t making the team, which doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone, I’m sure. The question now is does he accept assignment to Buffalo. He said, earlier, that he would, but who knows what he is thinking now.
Mat had a 6.75 ERA in 14.2 spring innings. 13 hits, 5 home runs (!), 8 walks and 9 strikeouts.
So now the bullpen looks to be Osuna, Grilli, Joe Smith, J.P. Howell, Aaron Loup, Biagini and one of Mike Bolsinger, Dominic Leone and Ryan Tepera.
Mike Wilner seems to think Ryan Goins might be traded. I have my doubts, most teams have someone like him already, I can’t see him having much trade value. I do wonder if he would clear waivers. I’m not sure any team would see enough value there to take a utility infielder who is out of options.
The lineup for tonight’s game could be our opening day lineup (evening spring games are stupid):
