Game #36 GameThread: Mariner @ Jays

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Baseball is so much better when the Jays are winning. I mean, we still have a crappy record. We are still in last play in the AL East and any thought of playoffs is still a little fantasy, but a 9-4 run feels good.

We have Kendrys Morales back in the lineup. It's nice that some of the injured are coming back. Morales today, Sanchez tomorrow, Tulo sometime this week. J.A. Happ is to throw off a mound soon. Now if we could get some good news about Josh Donaldson, I'd be a happy blogger.

Someone named Ryan Weber is starting for the Mariners. In Tacoma Ryan has a 0.85 ERA in 6 games, 5 starts. Over 31.2 innings he's allowed 20 hits, 4 walks, with 19 strikeouts. Very good numbers. He appeared in a handful of games for Atlanta, over the past two seasons. In 21 games, 7 starts, he has a 5.15 ERA. In 64.2 innings, he's allowed 71 hits, 10 home runs, 11 walks and 42 strikeouts. Look like home runs have been a problem.

Marcus Stroman has a 3.38 ERA in 7 starts. He had some tightness two starts back. His last start...he threw 6 scoreless innings, but he was getting hit pretty hard.

Let's build on this 3-game win streak.
