Mother's Day GameThread: Mariners @ Jays

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Go call your mom. Do it now so you don't disturb her during the game.

Unfortunately, I can't call my mom today. She's has dementia and is pretty far along. Most of the time she's in a different world. But, every now and then, when she's particularly mad at me, she'll say "Thomas" in just the same tone as she used when I was a kid.

My Mom, considering she was making it up as she went along, was a very good mom. My sister and I make fun of her cooking and there are foods that, to this day, I can't eat because of memories of my mom's cooking. But what would we do if we couldn't blame our parents for everything.

The Jays face Ariel Miranda, a lefty. He's making his 8th start of the season. He's 3-2 with a 5.20 ERA. In 36.1 innings he's allowed 38 hits, 8 home runs, 11 walks with 30 strikeouts.

And we have Aaron Sanchez, coming off the DL make his 4th start of the season.Unfortunately, 2 of his 3 starts have been cut short by finger issues.

As always, remember we have rules around there. Mostly it's "don't be terrible". If a moderator ask you to stop doing something, please stop. Remember losing makes Tom a wee bit grumpy. Also don't debate the rules in the thread. Send Tom a note instead (he doesn't get near enough email).
