As I was assembling this post, big rumours of a Blue Jays prospect callup came through the wire, with Southern Miss writer Jason Munz passing on the word about Anthony Alford:

What a perfect time for another episode of Around The Nest! Last week I claimed that it is the only minor league podcast that features the radio broadcasters from all the minor league affiliates and no one told me otherwise so let’s say it’s true. It is hosted by the Voice of the Lansing Lugnuts, Jesse Goldberg-Strassler and it runs from 4 to 4:30 pm Eastern every Friday of the minor league season.

Jim Tarabocchia (Dunedin Blue Jays) leads off the show today, Tyler Zickel (New Hampshire Fisher Cats) will follow, Ben Wagner (Buffalo Bisons) will bat third, and Jesse (Lansing Lugnuts) will clean it up.

Here is last week’s show on Soundcloud if you missed it.

This week’s show starts at 4 pm Eastern! Click here to listen.

And Jesse provides the episode’s description (which was prepared prior to the news of the callup):

The latest from a week's worth of happenings around the Jays' organization: Dwight Smith, Jr. is the latest player to debut in Toronto, while catching prospect Danny Jansen ascends to Double-A New Hampshire. Zach Jackson is quietly mowing through hitters in Lansing, while there's nothing quiet about Roemon Fields's performance in Buffalo. Plus, Ryan McBroom goes on a HR binge in New Hampshire, Andrew Guillotte enjoys a hit parade in Dunedin... and it's all leading up to a Blue Jays Weekend at Coca-Cola Field!

If you’ve got a question about a Blue Jays prospect or something about a team, ask below and as always, Jesse will try to get them answered on the air!
