The Giants DFAed Neil Ramirez on April 30th and the Jays have claimed him.
Ramirez is a right-handed reliever, who hasn’t had the best of numbers of late.
This year, in 9 appearances Neil has a 13.06 ERA. In 10.1 innings, he’s allowed 16 hits, 15 earned, 2 home runs, 4 walks and 18 strikeouts. Pretty close to 2 strikeouts an inning. Last year he had a 6.14 ERA in 14.2 innings with the Twins.
Career he has a 4.21 ERA, in 96 relief appearances. In 92 innings he’s allowed 79 hits, 13 home runs, 45 walks and 110 strikeouts.
Roster moves will have to be made. Space will be needed on the active roster and the 40-man.
I’m not sure what the point is, we seem to have plenty of pitchers who can’t get people out, but with that strikeout rate, I’m sure the team is thinking that Neil is worth a shot.
