Jays 4 Rangers 11
This .500 thing is getting to be irritating.
Anyway, this time, Marcus Stroman had a terrible start. 4 inning, 7 hit, 7 earned, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts and 3 home runs allowed. He just didn’t have it today.
Carlos Valdez pitched 3.1 innings of relief, helping out a lot. We’ve been throwing a ton of bullpen innings of late. Valdez allowed 4 hits, 4 runs (2 earned), 2 walks with 2 strikeouts. He took one for the team.
Jeff Beliveau got the last 2 outs to end the game.
Offensively, we did pretty good. 11 hits, 2 walks, 4 runs. We got 2 hits each from Jose Bautista (who was caught stealing third with 2 outs, and his team down, really really stupid), Russell Martin, Kendrys Morales and Kevin Pillar (moved to 6th in the batting order and he finally hits). The only Jays starters not to hit were Troy Tulowitzki and Dwight Smith.
Not Jays of the Day.
Suckage goes to Stroman (-.305 WPA) and Tulo (-.108).
Josh Donaldson was a late scratch, with a sore knee. He wants to be back Friday. We’ll see.
The .500 thing is getting annoying, but....if you would have told me, back in April, that we would be just a couple of games under .500 at this point, I would have been thrilled.
Sorry the recap is so late, I was running around getting ready for my MS bike ride, this weekend, and I spent longer than I planned. I’ll be missing this weekend.
There were 535 comments in the GameThread. Eric H led the way again. Good job sir.
