Not much for Jays news this afternoon.
The team does have to make a decision on Glenn Sparkman this weekend, either add him to the roster or offer him back to the Royals. Gibby says he would like to get a look at him. He would give us a long man out of the bullpen, mostly in blowouts.
But then, someone would have to come off the roster. Likely Chris Smith, who might be a more useful pitcher.
Sparkman has pitched 20 minor league rehab innings, split between Dunedin, New Hampshire and Buffulo. He’s allowed 16 hits, 9 runs (5 earned), 3 home runs, 5 walks and 12 strikeouts.
Poll
What would you do with Glenn Sparkman?

-
69%
Activate him.
-
30%
Offer him back to the Royals.
- Aaron Sanchez will start for the Bisons on Sunday, and, barring bad stuff, his next start would be for the Jays. I’m thinking it is most likely that Joe Biagini will be going back to the bullpen. If it were me I’d think about moving Francisco Liriano to the pen, to be our second lefty. I guess Jeff Beliveau is doing a good job in that role.
- Jose Bautista has 899 RBI. I couple of years ago I would have said that he was a sure thing to get to 1000. Now he’s less of a sure thing.
- Braves have DFAed Bartolo Colon. It’s been a bad week for former Expos.
Today’s lineup.
