Blue Jays put Devon Travis on DL with a knee injury

MLB: New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Sousa-USA TODAY Sports

The Blue Jays put Devon Travis onto the 10-day DL today.

But, surprise, they are saying it isn’t his hand injury. They say it is a ‘right knee bone bruise’ and, as a kicker ‘with cartilage injury’. That last part scares me. A bone bruise can keep a player out of the lineup for awhile. Cartilage? That could keep a guy out for the season.

They aren’t saying what the cartilage injury is, and they are saying he’s going for more testing. It really doesn’t sound good to me.

Shi Davidi says that Dominic Leone is on his way back to the Jays, but the team is saying that the corresponding move won’t be announced until later. I’d imagine Shi is right. Just saw that his name is listed on today’s lineup.

Travis is batting .259/.291/.438, but, as you know he had a great May.

Dominic Leone has a 4.01 ERA in 21 games as a Jay. In 24.2 innings, he’s allowed 20 hits, 3 home runs, 10 walks and 25 strikeouts.

Please heal up quickly Devon.
