We knew a move was coming, but we expected Joe Smith to be the one coming up.
Mike Bolsinger is going on the DL, with left knee inflammation. Convenient eh? They needed a fresh arm in the pen, and the guy that pitched 3.1 innings yesterday, who is out of options, just happens to be hurt. We did see Bolsinger rubbing his knee yesterday.
That 4 strikeout inning, yesterday, was pretty impressive. He looked pretty good, until the home run. But, we really should have scored before then. We really need to learn to score.
Instead of Joe Smith, the Jays are bringing Cesar Valdez up. I’d imagine the reasoning is they want someone who could throw multiple innings, since everyone else in the pen has pitched a fair bit lately.
Valdez was up earlier, he pitched in 2 games. 4.1 innings, allowed 2 earned, 4 hits, 3 wallks, 2 strikeouts. He’s pitched in 11 games, 10 starts, in Buffalo. 61.1 innings, 3.23 ERA, 12 walks and 44 strikeouts.

I’d be happy if we could get a decent prospect or two.
