Our daily roster moves:
Aaron Sanchez is back on the DL, for the fourth time, with blister issues. They say the blister is in a new place.
Jeff Beliveau was DFAed.
And we are opening with a pair of Smiths. Joe Smith has been activated from the DL. Chris Smith has been called up.
Joe Smith has been on the disabled list since before the All-Star break. He has a 3.41 ERA in 31.2 innings. His last outing, before going on the DL, was a bad one, giving up 3 earned in 1 inning of work. Before that he had a 2.64 ERA. He had 3 appearances in Buffalo on rehab. Glad to have him back.
Chris Smith, a right-handed pitcher, was up once before, threw 1 inning, allowed 1 hit and went back to Buffalo. In Buffalo he has a 4.43 ERA in 22.1 innings. He’s allowed 23 hits, just 3 walks with 17 strikeouts.
Beliveau had a rough time yesterday, giving up 6 runs without getting an out, ballooning his ERA to 7.47 (and it is bad luck to have an ERA that is used by Boeing). Before that he had a 4.02 ERA and seemed to have gaining Gibby’s trust, but giving up 6 runs will erase all that trust with any manager. It is quiet possible that he will clear waivers.
I’m feeling bad for Aaron. Nothing seems to be working for the guy.
Today’s lineups, no Tulo. I’m wondering if he was hurt yesterday, when he left the game rather suddenly.
