Reports are stating Francisco Liriano has been traded to the Houston Astros.

The club has confirmed.

Who are the Jays getting in return?

Outfielder Norichika Aoki has a year of arbitration left, and is under control through 2018. He has good contact, but not a ton of power. He is hitting .272/.323/.371 with 2 home runs and 19 RBIs this year. Aoki also has 5 stolen bases. He has a career 105 wRC+, but is in a down year (87 wRC+).

UPDATE:

Teoscar Hernandez is No. 9 on the Astros list of top prospects. He is a 24-year-old outfielder hitting .279/.369/.485 in AAA. He splits time between center and right field.

Considering the Blue Jays struggles in the outfield this season, this deal makes a ton of sense for them.

Looks like the front office will now be switching gears to Joe Smith.
