Friday Bantering: Osuna Returns, Red Sox and Yankees Fined

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Sousa-USA TODAY Sports

Roberto Osuna will be available to pitch tonight for the first time following his trip down to Mexico for the birth of his child...which we now know to be a girl!

Unfortunately this was the only information Investigative Reporter Hazel Mae was able to find out (or that she was allowed to share).

Vlad Jr was drafted 3rd in the Liga de Beisbol Dominicano (Dominican Winter League), and is expected to play at least one month there. The Blue Jays had another player drafted into this league as well - 20 year old Yennsy Diaz was chosen in the 10th round. Diaz was in low-A Lansing this year.

John Gibbons did a little interview for MLB Network, and confirmed that despite his hot debut in the majors this month, Richard Ureña will not take Troy Tulowitzki’s job as the Blue Jays starting shortstop going forward.

MLB commissioner Robert Manfred announced that both the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees will be fined after the Apple Watch scandal. The Yankees factor in based off this very interesting tidbit:

“In the course of the investigation, the statement said, the Yankees were found to have violated a rule pertaining to the use of a dugout phone ‘during an earlier championship season (prior to 2017).’”

The money collected will be donated to hurricane relief in Florida. I also liked this idea, but funding for worthy causes is good too.

All other MLB teams have officially been warned.

Here’s our line-up for tonight! Martin is back. Pearce is still out with back issues.

If the Jays light up Big Sexy tonight, I might be willing to forgive their last two less-than-optimal tries against him this season.
