Blue Jays call up Taylor Cole

MLB: Spring Training-Toronto Blue Jays at Houston Astros Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Apparently, it is never too late in the season for the Blue Jays to make a roster move.

The Jays have called up right-handed pitcher Taylor Cole (is it really called up after the minor league season has ended?). To make room on the 40-man roster, the Jays moved Aaron Sanchez to the 60-day DL.

Taylor was up, with the Jays, once before this season. He pitched an inning on August 9th against the Yankees, giving up 6 hits, 4 earned, 1 walk, 1 hit batter with 1 strikeout. Later he was DFAed and then signed to a minor league contract.

He missed a lot of time with injuries this season, including a broken toe.

I though we would have had enough arms in the pen for these last three games, but I guess not.

I’m thinking there is a pitcher or two who are being shutdown for the last series.

Today’s lineup, Smoak sits, Morales at first, Bautista DH. Martin and Barney sit.
