5 down, 4 to go. We have Stroman (the conspiracy part of my personality figures he wants $10 more than Sanchez) , Osuna, Pillar and Leone left.
Ben Nicholson tells us that the Jays have signed Devon Travis to a $1.4 million 1-year contract and Bob Nightengale tells us that Aaron Sanchez signed a 1-year, $2.7 million contract.
Both missed most of last season. It would really make the team better if both could play a full season this year. Aaron had the best ERA in the AL in 2016, but only threw 36 innings last year. If he could pitch a full season, our rotation would be so much better.
Devon Travis played in 50 games, last year, hitting .259/.291/.438. He never really got his bat going, before hitting the DL but he still hit much better than his replacements. I’d love to see what he could do with 150 games. I’m not sold on him as a leadoff hitter, but where ever he hits, we’d be a better team with him in the lineup.
Welcome back Devon and Aaron.
