Charlie Montoyo named as new Blue Jays manager

On this rare off day with no World Series game, no Raptors game, and no Maple Leafs game, there was speculation the new Blue Jays’ manager would be announced today.

Today, the Blue Jays named their new manager as Rays bench coach Charlie Montoyo. Montoyo is reported to have agreed to a three year contract with a team option for 2022. The bilingual 53-year-old is from Florida, Puerto Rico and has spent years with the Rays organization in a variety of different roles, including managing minor league teams at every level.
