Jays name Guillermo Martinez hitting coach

Shi Davidi tells us that the Blue Jays have promoted their minor league hitting coordinator Guillermo Martinez to be their hitting coach, replacing Brook Jacoby.

Martinez was a hitting coach and infield coach back in 2012 and then was in the Cubs system as a minor league hitting coach for four seasons before coming back to the Jays this year.

He was drafted by the Marlins in the 15th round of the 2006 draft and played 3 years in their system and then spent 3 years in independent ball. You can see his numbers here. He’s 34.

Martinez has a website.

And the Jays have hired Carson Cistulli from FanGraphs to work in their scouting department. Carson wrote a farewell to FanGraphs here.
