Atlanta have made the first big free agent move of the offseason by signing Josh Donaldson to a 1 year contract.
The contract is said to guarantee Donaldson the same $23MM salary he earned in 2018. Josh wasn’t eligible for a qualifying offer this year since he was traded midseason. However, if he spends all of 2019 with Atlanta, he can get a qualifying offer from them next winter.
Naturally Josh gets to reunite with GM Alex Anthopoulos. AA of course made the legendary trade that brought Josh to Toronto (and we fleeced the A’s by only giving up Kendall Graveman, Franklin Barreto, Sean Nolin and Brett Lawrie in return...)
Josh can look forward to playing alongside some premier players like Freeman and Acuna.
And at least he wont be in Cleveland anymore.
