Saturday Lineup and some Jays notes

MLB: Spring Training-Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

We get a game on TV. What a great day. Even better Newcastle is winning. That’s about as usual as Sportsnet showing us a game on TV.

There are a couple of bit of news from the Blue Jays camp:

  • Marcus Stroman did some ‘long toss’ yesterday. Next is throwing off a mound and then game action. I still think odds are slim that he’ll be on the opening day roster, but I’m sure he’ll do his best to be ready.
  • The team had their first cuts of the spring. Sean Reid-Foley, Jon Harris and Jordan Romano go to the minor league camp and Rowdy Tellez was optioned to Buffalo.
  • Off topic, but congratulations to the Raptors for making the playoffs again. I watched some of last night’s game and they were very impressive.
  • Things that drive me nuts for $2000 Alex:

Yes, last year Dalton missed a lot of time WITH A CONCUSSION. 2016 he played 93 games with the Bisons, while spending September with the Jays. 2015 he played 96 minor league games and 34 with the Jays. That seems to be a pretty decent portion of the season.

I don’t know what’s going to happen but if you think the guy should have toughed it out and played with a concussion, we have a difference of opinion. My son had a concussion and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone and I wouldn’t call anyone soft that’s had one.

I know I should ignore these things, but I’m in a crappy mood anyway. I don’t know what’s going to happen with Dalton. I am afraid he missed his moment, but I’m hoping something will work out. Sports writers calling a player soft is one of those thing I can never understand.

We get a bunch of the regulars today.
