In addition to releasing Ezequiel Carrera, the Blue Jays have optioned Thomas Pannone and Ryan Borucki to the minor leagues, however, it sounds like Borucki will be called back up to play against the Red Sox this Thursday.
If the Blue Jays choose to go with John Axford, Al Alburquerque, Craig Breslow or Tyler Clippard for their remaining bullpen spots, they will need to clear two spots off their 40 man roster. It seems likely Dwight Smith Jr is high on that list, but aside from starting either Carlos Ramirez or Troy Tulowitzki on the 60-day disabled list (the latter of which would be terrible), it’s hard to think about who else they could pass through waivers.
Steve Pearce is also scheduled to rejoin the team for Thursday’s game after sitting out for a while with a calf strain.
Marcus Stroman was selected to be part of a New Era commercial reminding fans to wear their caps on Opening Day:
It played several times during the televised game yesterday on MLB.tv. He’s only it in briefly, but is among elite company.
Here’s the line-up for today. Roemon Fields has been subbed in last minute for Dalton Pompey. I hope he’s okay.

The game will be televised on MLB.tv and Sportsnet. If you are watching, feel free to use this post as the game thread. Dunedin Stadium should be packed with an influx of spring breakers, so hopefully there will be a good crowd. Go Jays Go!
