Jays quick recap: Good work from Aaron Sanchez

But Jays lose to Braves.

MLB: Spring Training-Toronto Blue Jays at Atlanta Braves Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Blue Jays 0 Braves 6

We got a nice outing from Aaron Sanchez. He went 6.1, allowed 2 hits (a triple to start off the game and a single), no walks and 4 strikeouts. His unearned run came in the 7th inning. He got a ground out and then Tyler Flowers reached on a Gift Ngoepe error. Aaron came out of the game and then everything fell apart. Sanchez has a 3.06 ERA.

Wagner said he threw a 99 mph fastball.

After 6 Shi tweeted:

Other pitchers:

  • Ryan Tepera: Gave up 3 hits and a walk, 4 earned, while just getting 1 out. 9.53 ERA. He’s had a rough spring. I’ll admit, I’m starting to worry.
  • Craig Breslow: Gave up 2 walks getting just 1 out. 6.75. He’s had a rough spring too. He has very little chance of going north with the team.
  • Danny Barnes: 1 inning, 3 strikeouts. 6.43. His best outing this spring, by far.

Offense

We didn’t do much on offense. Just 4 hits.

Teoscar Hernandez had 2 of the 4 hits. He had our only extra base hit, a double and, of course had 1 strikeout. That give him 14 strikeouts in 39 at bats. He’s hitting .359 this spring.

Other hitters:

  • Danny Espinosa: 0 for 3. .265. He had an error. Ben Wagner figured it was a bad call, thinking it should have been a hit.
  • Josh Donaldson: 0 for 3, 2 k. .211. I’d like to see a hard hit ball off his bat.
  • Kendrys Morales: 0 for 3. .214.
  • Steve Pearce: 1 for 3. .316.
  • Yangervis Solarte: 0 for 3, k. .132.
  • Luke Maile: 0 for 2, walk. .300. He had a long fly go just foul. He’s had a good spring with the bat.
  • Gift Ngoepe: 0 for 3, 2 k. .206. He had an error.
  • Roemon Fields: 1 for 3, k. .364. He was picked off first.
  • Jon Berti: 0 for 1. He had an error.
  • Jason Leblebijian: Walk and steal.

The Jays are now 12-12 on the season.
