Quick Recap: Jays lose rain shortened game

Nice start from Estrada.

MLB: Spring Training-Toronto Blue Jays at Philadelphia Phillies Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Blue Jays 0 Phillies 2 (game was called due to rain with 1 out into the top for the 7th)

Marco Estrada pitched a nice 5 innings. He allowed 4 hits, 2 earned, 1 walk with 5 strikeouts. He looked good. I think he could have gone longer, but it was raining, I’d imagine they didn’t want him pitching in the rain.

John Axford pitched a quick inning.

On offensive, again, we didn’t do much.

  • Curtis Granderson: 0 for 3, 3 k. .303. He had a rough time.
  • Devon Travis: 2 for 3. .278. He came out when the rain started.
  • Yangervis Solarte: 1 for 3. .146.
  • Justin Smoak: 0 for 3, k. He was robbed on a line drive to the outfield.
  • Russell Martin: 0 for 2, k. He ran into a netting protecting the Phillies coaches, in the first inning. He got tangled in the netting and pulled it down on himself.
  • Kendrys Morales: 0 for 2. .205. He started the spring so hot.
  • Teoscar Hernandez: 0 for 2. .341. He had two catchable fly balls that he missed. Both times he covered a lot of ground, but if you get there you should make the catch.
  • Kevin Pillar: 1 for 2. .472.
  • Aledmys Díaz: 1 for 2. .237.

Jays drop to 12-13.

Tomorrow the Blue Jays play host to the Phillies. This one isn’t on MLB.tv.
