Blue Jays release Craig Breslow

MLB: Spring Training-Toronto Blue Jays at Atlanta Braves Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Blue Jays released Craig Breslow today. He didn’t have a great spring training, putting up a 6.14 ERA. In 7.1 he allowed 10 hits, 1 homer, 4 walks with 6 strikeouts.

We signed the 37 year old lefty, back in February, to a minor league deal. He didn’t do well in his battle to become the second lefty in the pen.

I don’t know if Breslow will find any interest from other teams or if this might be the end of his career. He’s had a pretty good one, 12 years, 576 games. 3.45 ERA.

Jays also announce that lefty Matt Dermody, who was DFAed, has been outrighted to Buffalo. I’m glad he is still in the organization.
