The Blue Jays played split squad games today, and, unusually, they had some regulars at both games. And they won both games.

Pirates 4 Blue Jays 13 (at Dunedin)

We had a bunch of homers in this one. Devon Travis, Russell Martin (his 3rd of spring), Roemon Fields, Curtis Granderson (his 3rd this spring) and Dwight Smith (his 2nd) all homered.

Pitching:

J.A. Happ started and did well. He pitched 3 innings, allowed 2 hits, 1 earned, 2 walks with 1 strikeouts.

  • Danny Barnes: 1 inning, 1 hit a homer, 2 strikeouts.
  • John Axford: 1 inning, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts.
  • Craig Breslow: 1 clean inning. His first decent appearance of the spring.
  • Matt Dermody: 1 inning, 1 hit, strikeout.
  • Rhiner Cruz: 1 inning, 1 walk, 1 unearned run.
  • Dusty Isaacs: 1 inning, 1 hit a home run, 1 earned, 2 strikeouts

  • Devon Travis: 2 for 4, home run. .333.

  • Justin Shafer: 1 clean inning (save).

So a few hours ago offense was a worry. Not so much now.
