Kendrys Morales left the game yesterday with an apparent injury after running out a single. Nothing was visibly noticeable on the broadcast, but he received a visit from Gibby and a trainer and was replaced by Josh Donaldson at first base. After the commercial break, Buck and Pat were announcing Morales would surely be headed to the disabled list. I’m not sure what they based their assessment off of, but they ended up being weirdly correct. Morales was eventually reported by the Jays PR team to have a Grade 1 hamstring strain.
John Gibbons was asked about it last night and he had this to say:
Gibbons said he doesn't think the Morales hamstring injury is a big deal. Doesn't expect a stint on the DL. #BlueJays

Then today we find out he is going on the DL and Tim Mayza is being called back up from Buffalo.
Mayza hasn’t pitched for Buffalo yet as they have only played one game, but he got a fair amount of innings in during Spring Training. He was a September call up last year, posting a 6.88 ERA/2.98 FIP in 17 innings. He had 13 earned runs (three homers) and struck out 27. He will give John Gibbons another lefty option outside of Aaron Loup.
Here’s the line-up for tonight:
A win tonight = another series W. Let's get it. https://t.co/Ed7uF49l84 #BlueJays pic.twitter.com/xFnrGOv20k

Grichuk sits again, as it looks like Gibbons is trying to keep the hot bats (Pearce/Solarte) in.
Welcome back, Tim!
