No, Mr. Large is not our nickname for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. but we’re referring to Cullen Large of the Lansing Lugnuts, who scored a the winning run on a Norberto Obeso walkoff single last night—it wasn’t just a big win for the Lugnuts, it was a large and obese win. Large and our other large adult sons Cavan Biggio and Vladdy Junior will be the focus of the Around The Nest podcast today but we will be checking in on other highlights from New Hampshire to Dunedin to Lansing. (Pat Malacaro of the Bisons is off at a friend’s wedding this weekend—mazel tov!)
Around The Nest is a weekly live podcast on Blue Jays prospects, hosted by the Voice of the Lugnuts Jesse Goldberg-Strassler and joined via telephone by the broadcasters from the other levels of the minor leagues. We broadcast at 4 pm Eastern every Friday, but if you can’t catch it at that time, you can always download the archived audio that is made available shortly after each episode.
Here is today’s episode description from Jesse:
Blue Jays minor leaguers are heating up the young Minor League Baseball season: Tim Lopes in Buffalo, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Cavan Biggio in New Hampshire, D.J. Davis in Dunedin, and Kevin Smith in Lansing are all putting up impressive numbers, not to mention recent big games from Ryan Borucki, Rodrigo Orozco and Cullen Large. Tour the Jays’ system with the voices of each affiliate to hear the latest observations and good times!
As always, Bluebird Banter readers are encouraged to ask questions about the Blue Jays’ minor league players and teams directly to the people who see them play every day. Put them in the comments below and Jesse et al. will try to answer as many as they can.
