Kendrys Morales leaves game with hamstring strain

MLB: Toronto Blue Jays at Texas Rangers Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

Kendrys Morales left tonight’s game against the Orioles with a ‘first grade’ left hamstring strain.

Kendrys singled, in the second inning, but it looked like his leg was bothering him at first base. He went to second on a fielders choice at third, but he was running very slowly (slowly even for Kendrys) and came out of game for a pinch runner, Yangervis Solarte.

In the bottom of the inning, Josh Donaldson moved from third to first and Solarte took over at third.

It sounds as if Morales will be heading to the DL. If he does, I’m curious who the Jays will call up. I’m thinking it will be a bullpen arm, someone who can go 2-3 innings. If it is a batter, Lourdes Gurriel is hitting the ball well (at AA), and he can backup a number of positions and he’s on the 40-man. But, I’m betting it will be a pitcher.

It looked like Kendrys was just starting to hit the ball better, but I’m all for having the DH spot open to give guys a rest day.
