On today’s episode of Roster Roulette, we’ve got a DL bound starter, an optioned reliever, and a pair of callups!

I’m guessing that Gaviglio is going to the bullpen, while Biagini will take Stroman’s place in the rotation.

Marcus Stroman last pitched on May 8, so his DL assignment is retroactive to May 9. If you’re wondering why they didn’t hold off on the DL until Sunday when Stroman’s turn comes up in the order, as per the new rules around the 10 day DL, retroactive stints can only be for 2 days. So them doing the move now signals, at least to me, that they don’t expect Stroman to be out long.

Tim Mayza continues to earn Buffalo Shuttle Reward Miles. Two more trips and he gets a free ice cream cone at Denny’s.

Joe Biagini has made 2 starts in Toronto so far this season, both times on the backend of a double header. In his 10 innings, he has allowed 9 runs on 16 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 8. He has been a bit better in Buffalo, pitching to a 4.57 ERA in 21.2 innings.

Sam Gaviglio has made 5 starts so far for the Bisons, pitching to a 1.86 ERA over his 29 innings. He has 29 strikeouts against 4 walks and 21 hits. The right hander has looked pretty good, and will hopefully provide some long relief for the bullpen.

And most importantly...
