The Blue Jays optioned Anthony Alford to Buffalo after today’s game. I don’t understand sending him out after only 12 at bats, but it isn’t my decision to make. They say the corresponding move will be made before Tuedays game.
It’s not Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. Or at least I’m relatively sure it isn’t Vladimir Guerrero, Jr.

Steve Pearce is still a ways from being able to play.
Randal Grichuk has been running, but he hasn’t played yet. I thought the team would have playing rehab games for the maximum length of time allowed, more to see if he can get the bat going, than for any rehab reason. I don’t know why they would bring him back without at least a few rehab games. But then he seems the most likely.
Dwight Smith, Jr. I don’t see it, since he’s a left-handed batter just like Granderson. It doesn’t set up a platoon.
Devon Travis? I think he is hitting .200 at Buffalo, so I can’t see it. And we really could use another outfielder.
Another pitcher? Please no. I guess Danny Barnes could come back, but we only had 3 position players on the bench today, I really don’t want to be down to a backup catcher and someone else who has to cover for every other spot in case of injury. Barnes has pitched just 2 innings in Buffalo.
Perhaps a trade or something is coming? We picked up Gio Urshela in trade. Maybe there is someone else out there?
